In order to make these fiber formation technologies function in an optimal way, the fibers need to be carefully adjusted with respect to behaviour in the formation process (either through means of air, water or by mechanical means).

Web consolidation (by means of calendars, ovens, spunlace, needles, etc.) also play a major effect in achieving the full benefit of the bicomponent fibers.
